UV colour gels have been on the market since about 2005. The technique originates from the well-known techniques with UV polymer gels with which, among other things, nails are built up in nail styling and orthesiology. In recent years there has been a competition between the different suppliers on the basis of exclusivity, quality, service and of course price. We regularly receive samples for testing and a few colleagues at IMGRO have really developed a method to try out these samples in a somewhat systematic and comperative way. We see major differences in curing, colour fastness, durability of the applied colour coat but also in the degree of damage to the natural nails. In general we can state that "too cheap" colour gels not only peel earlier but also leave the natural nail more damaged. You can see this after deviating from the colour gel.
It is important to discuss the quality of the packaging here. In recent years we have had several "cheaper" brands from our assortment because the colour gels turned out to harden early in the bottle. We can only register this if the colour gels have been in our shop or warehouse for a while or after sale. We always want to prevent you from buying these "bad" products from us, or at all........ Some suppliers will exchange stock, but most of the time we will let the product expire as a sale or stop the sale immediately.
A colour gel is meant to beautify the nail for a few days up to 2 weeks. However, each nail grows out and within 2 weeks the edges of the nail come in sight. Our experience is that a good colour gel, which is applied well, does not damage the natural nail very much and is visible on the nail plate for a long time.
Based on our experience we have several gel polish brands in stock. However, the system of application is always the same.
- Step 1 : You always start with a normal manicure treatment. However, you do NOT end with an oil or hand cream.
- Step 2 : Primer
- Step 3 : Basecoat
- Step 4 : Colorcoat
- Step 5 :Top Coat
- Step 6 : Remove the adhesive layer.
- Step 7 : Now you can apply cuticle oil to the after belts and cream the hands or use a delicious lotion.
All brands of gel wrist can be used under LED and UV. With LED the curing time is shorter. You can find this in the step-by-step plans. The step-by-step plans can be found with the brands and products.
Note: You can also use IPA / Isopropyl alcohol to remove the final adhesive layer. We found the liquid "IPA" as the main ingredient on all the labels of the various removers.
